Grateful for: Mail

Coming to you from Maxabella loves...

If you think about it, mail service is actually a really cool invention.
Sure, everybody loves getting pretty things and cards and nice letters in the mail. Older people often complain that our generation is only communicating via email, but I think a lot of young people actually treasure "snailmail" a lot because it is so special for us.

Here in our little village, the postman comes by the house and hands you the mail when he sees you about. Also, we have a pretty romantic letterbox:

I not only love to receive mail though, I also like to send it off occasionally (especially if I know the receipient is not expecting it. No pressure and double surprise - win-win! ^^).
We have this funny little thing here. If this little sign is on the letterbox, the postman will ring at the door instead of just dropping the mail.

You can then give him mail to send off or buy stamps from him. Isn't that sweet? I think it's great and I definitely want to try it! ^^

What have you been grateful for this week?
Here are many more posts about what makes people grateful:

Mail is very special! I have a few spare cards I'd like to send out to my family and friends just because. :)

And ahh that's cool about the door-bell thing and the stamps! I have to go to the post to get the stamps. Lolz.

I'm grateful for good people and second chances. :)

I love getting mail too. I started signing up for daily samples at ALL You so that I could get more cool stuff in the mail. I used to participate in CD exchanges that made the mail more fun but life got busy. Awesome mailbox!

I love mail too - especially if it is unexpected. And I adore your mailbox.

I adore mail, whatever is in the envelope or package. Nothing sadder than an empty mailbox! I love the idea of the postie taking your mail to send as well as delivering. That's so cool!! x

I wish my postwoman would sell stamps as well. If I happen to meet her, she can take the letters away, too but that rarely happens so I am collecting signatures from the village people to ask the city hall to ask the German post to install a official post box.

I too appreciate snail mail very much and too often I open an empty mailbox which makes me sad.

I love receiving mail too, and I love that you can get your mail picked up at the same time! Here in Australia there is none of that, the posty comes on his motorbike, pops the mail in the letter box, which is down the end of the driveway so he doesn't even have to get off the bike, and then rides off to the next house.

I love your letterbox!

I think with so many people buying things online and at ebay the postie and parcel person must be delivering more mail than ever!
